DEFINING STEWARDSHIP
by Pastor Al Lorentzen ELCA/DCM
Stewardship is all we do and become after
we say, "I believe." It is how we live out our belief. It
determines the lifestyle we choose to live.
Stewardship is not only about money or fund raising. It is about
how we view life and God. It is understanding the sovereignty of God
and our role as trustee.
Stewardship is how we earn and spend income, use natural resources,
care for those in need, plan for future generations, and grow out spiritual
heritage and pass it on.
Stewardship is rooted in creation, focused in covenant, and accounted
for in consummation.
There are numerous stewardship
resources available from the ELCA
Web site.
Also find resources in the synod's Heilig Resource Center.
Our synod has an ELCA Mission Interpreter who would be happy to consult
on issues of stewardship. Contact Wayne
Nelson, AIM.
