Synod Council & Officers

The Synod Council is the board of directors of the synod and serves as its interim legislative authority between meetings of the synod assembly. Its members are elected for three-year terms by the voting members during the annual assembly. Nominations come from the 18 conferences and also at large.

Vice President of the Synod:
Diana Haywood
Diana is Director of Data Administration at University of North Carolina General Administration in Chapel Hill. She lives in Durham where she is a member of Church of the Abiding Savior Lutheran.

The vice president presides at Synod Council meetings. Elected in 2008, her term ends in 2012

Secretary of the Synod:
The Rev. Dr. Gary Weant
Pastor Weant serves Philadelphia Lutheran Church-Dallas. His term ends in 2013.

Treasurer of the Synod:
David Hinshaw
David Hinshaw, a member of Lutheran Church of the Epiphany in Winston-Salem, has been a Certified Public Accountant for 29 years. His term ends in 2012.
